Nooob question.

  1. I spend nights watching you-tube videos on STi's and see a bunch about anti lag. What exactly is it? And what causes the flame to shoot out after revs? I know it's catless right? And what about flame after shifts? What causes it? What parts do you have to have to cause it to happen?

Unless you have all the money of a WRC team...you can't afford it.

  3. So you're saying the STi I see every weekend that shoots a flame out the back every time he gets a "perfect shift" along with a friends evo has as much money as the WRC teams?

  4. From what I have researched. If you run cattless and have a BOV you will most likely shoot fireballs. Especially if you are stage 2. Correct?

I dont think BOV has anything to do with "fireballs" you speak of.

BOV has everything to do with shooting Fireballs. The BOV causes the car to run ultra rich between shifts, causing unburned fuel to get into the exhaust system. Tuning stage doesn't have much to do with it. In fact, a properly tuned Stage 2 would reduce the chances of Afterfire as the tuner adjusts for how that specific car is running.

Put a BOV on the car and have a catless uppipe and you are almost guaranteed to shoot a flame from time to time.

As for the STi the OP mentioned, he may not have the money of a WRC Rally team. If he does, great. If not, I hope he has plans for the near future when he blows his engine.

If his car is shooting a flame on every "Perfect Shift" whatever that is, then there is something wrong with his car and it is only a matter of time until he destroys something and has to pay a pretty penny to get the car running again.

A racing team rebuilds the car after each race, so the extreme wear on parts because of Anti-Lag and running extremely rich is not a big deal. After the race, they strip the car down and rebuild many parts or replace with new.

  7. I'm not saying he has anti-lag. I mad this thread before I spent 40 minutes reading cattless v Catted threads and BOV threads on iwsti. It's cause he has a blow off and no cats. It makes sense. It's just as they said it would happen. It's just weird to see people have almost stock cars on youtube and see the title says "sti antilag". just check it out you'll see what im talking about.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

Launch Control/Anti-lag is now built into Cobb Accessport. It's not just due to being catless or having a BOV. However, it can get expensive as you will have to rebuild the motor quite often if you use it. Just ask Meredith or BrianGT.
