The Dodge Viper ACR runs a record-breaking 7:22 http://www.motortrend.com/av/featur...viper_acr_nurburgring_record_video/index.html I pretty sure the times could have been faster if he wasn't bouncing it off the the rev limiter.
I stopped after 22 seconds. It would have been about 30~45 seconds faster w/out revlimiter. That guy was not that good of a driver.
You really think that? The only thing I saw that would make me question his driving skills was a missed shift around 3 minutes into the video. Aside from that, I would say this guy is an excellent driver. How many people could really drive a 500+ hp Viper around the Ring and break a record? But he's not that good of a driver.
pshhh Sabine was only 3 minutes slower on the ring in a VAN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1pklvKKnd0
That has to be some of the best driving I've ever seen! That car is a MONSTER! It steps out around every single corner! Serious widowmaker. Add to that the fact that the guy isn't wearing a helmet. That's some balls right there.
speaking of vipers: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.co...28-Dodge-May-Sell-Off-Legendary-Viper-Brand-/
bouncing it off the revlimiter is part of what makes it such a quick lap time. If he were to shift in those situations he would have to downshift right after for a corner, it doesn't make sense to shift the car only to shift it right back. I don't know who is driving that car but whoever it is he is a master of the ring and high hp rwd cars. I've driven two vipers on track and to say that they are a handful is an understatement. Matt
Oh one more thing I posted this on IA so Ill post it here as well. Its a mans car....I mean a real mans car, not like a gay ass skyline metrosexual mans car....but like a hairy chested, thick necked, 400 plus pound bench press kind of mans car. Its a car that takes skill to drive you don't just point it in the general direction you want to go and stand on the gas like you do with the GTR. You actually have to put some thought into driving it. You turn it in and ask it politely if it wouldn't mind if you went around this turn quickly...sometimes it say yes sometimes it says no...and when it says no you grab it with your big ass man arms and you tell it listen here you are going to fukking go where I tell you and your going to like it.....then it crashes you into a wall and you go backward through the pearly gates in a fireball.....yes its that kind of ****ing cool. You shouldn't even be allowed to mention the gtr in the same breath as the Viper or the Corvette for that matter.
This is what I was going to post. Though he bounced off the rev-limiter a good bit in that video it was generally only right before entering the next corner, so shifting would have been a waste. I think it would be interesting if they lengthened the gearing a tad there to see what it could do then. Also be interesting how much faster it would have been without 2 mis-shifts. and to say this guy is not a good driver is ridiculous. It takes a damn good driver to make it around that place in the 8-9min range. To get into the low 7's with a car that is not necessarily the most forgiving, shows that this guy has some serious skills.
