O6 wrx gear oil

Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by droobydoobydoo, Sep 27, 2006.

  1. Just picked up a gallon of gear oil for my wrx at Tron.Sub. When I got home saw that the receipt said 85w140.Called and the parts man said that this is the newest stuff that they use in all the cars . Recommended by the manufacturer.
Anyone have any similar experiences.? I am getting ready to hit 20k miles and want to change trans fluid.

I dont think you have to change the tranny fluid till 30K. Correct me if I am wrong. Are you having any grinding/tranny issues that would make you want to change it earlier?

I believe Kris is correct. It was 30K on my '03.

  4. Just want to be extra careful. no trans. issues at all. Even if I wait I still wonder about the weight of the oil for the future.Mine calls for 75w90.The weight is the issue.
