So I was changing my plugs today since my car was possibly misfiring while I was in Texas in the hot weather and saw some oil in the plug wells and some on the plug boot. I'm guessing it is a leaky valve but I have no idea how to replace that, what the part would be, how much it would be to replace and how soon it needs to be done. Car is an 02 RS with 75,000 on it thanks in advance, J
I haven't driven the car since I changed the plugs this afternoon. It really only happened on my trip from Baltimore to NY in June, Alexandria to Austin in July, and Chattanooga to Atlanta in Sept.
I did them on my 06, and I had to buy 6 seals total: 2 valve cover gaskets and 4 spark plug galley gaskets. I think it ended up being around $50 in parts. On some of the older cars (I don't remember what years) you also need to get new bolts, because the bolts themselves have a seal on them. I just paid for parts because I did all the work myself. It wasn't too bad once I removed enough stuff from the engine bay. I'll admit it did take me many beers and many busted knuckles to finish, though.
