i installed my up pipe about a week ago and i noticed i lost about a quart of oil since then. upon closer inspection i see that the oil return line from the turbo is not seated all the way down. and i can't seem to pull it down with 12 in needle noses, so now i've got the intercooler and down pipe off and the turbo unbolted except for the bracket(it's just loose) i still can't seem to get a grip on the damn thing. comments?
I'm assuming you're talking about the metal tube that exits off the bottom of the turbo into the rubber hose? FWIW, that's always the first hose I connect, as the access back there is horrible (as I'm sure you're now aware). I'd try pulling the turbo & starting over. Make sure you've got that hose lined up properly & super-lubed. I usually spray a light coat of WD-40 on the ID of the hose & the OD of the nipple. Hopefully it'll slide all the way down properly. After that, you should be able to wiggle the hose clamp up until it fits snuggly over it all. Expect to lose some skin off your knuckles in the process. Any chance it could be somewhere else? Usually if that hose isn't all the way up, you get a big leak, not a little one. It could be one of the crush washers on the supply line aren't fully seated, but again, that's usually a big leak. It might not be a leak at all, don't forget the turbo & those lines are now full of oil, but they were probably dry when you put all this together last. Could cause the car to read low now. Are you smelling oil or seeing a puddle under your car? -Hope this helps. -Chris!
Hmmm, I seem to be leaking a little oil since we reinstalled my stock up too. I will have to look at this. Not sure what to do about it, but Bump for your thread and info...
