I Talked To One Of The Guys At Sog And He Said You Will Loose Power With A Drop In K&n Because Of The Oil's On It

?! uh, that oil is there to catch the dirt, and it smooths the airflow. they actually run BETTER after they get a little dirty. who told you that??

    sorry no CAI for me
    Im staying with stock AirBox
CAI has other issues and the stock is good for at least 300hp
And i believe CAI causes other issues and should be tuned for it. I wont recommend it unless i know for a fact it does make it better and clearly describe what else was done to make it "better"

correct, the cai is good for 300whp. go with the green filter(used by swrt: http://www.speedyperformanceparts.com/green-filters_su_m.html) or k&n drop ins, i've used both in more than one car and i've been very happy with either of them.

you will not see a hp/tq gain with the cai unless you are tuned for it, and then you're talking a 10-15 (generous) est gain.

I'm not sure about loosing power but I have heard that the oil can screw up your MAF.

if the oils ever get on your maf, wipe it off :)

:D or even 337whp. i am running the Fram Airhog and have had no complants. plus its a lot easier to clean and maintain than a CAI.

If you can find a monster flow filter or a foam filter that'd be better. K&n filters flow like crap after a while because all the dirt just gets gunked up and stops flow. The foam filters retain their flow between cleanings.

Im not too concern about flow
Im more concern about too much flow and getting all the dust into the engine.
I rather err on the safe and clean side. I dont plan on mega power that needs mega flow

So I put a K&N filter in the WRX.

I'll post again if I notice anything different (dirty MAF, louder, etc.) just for grins and giggles.

Edit: Well what do you know? Oily MAF and slightly louder intake noise.

Edit edit: The MAF is no longer oily. Must have only been the first couple drives.
