Guys, Just looking for any pros or cons between the two diff cat backs. I am up in the air about which one to go with. Any technical specs or feedback would be much appreciated... HKS Hiper: * Tip Dia. (mm) 120 * Piping Dia. (mm) 75 Espelir JGT 500: * Tip Dia. (mm) 100 * Piping Dia. (mm) 80
i'd go with the wider piping (better flow if it's engineered well), the larger tip will guarantee you nothing more than more noise (which is good, if you're into that) do they tell you how thick the tip is on each one (material thickness)? that'll be the difference between a nice growl and really pissed off bee in a beer can.
How about a taper in the pipes. I have no clue if either is 75/80mm at the down pipe. I would assume if it says taper than it will drop down to 2.5in or so.. So with that said. 80mm with a taper? or 75mm w/o taper?
whoa horsey... i just read your ride, you have an STi... 2.5 exhaust. can i ask why you would want to go with aftermarket catback only to taper the pipe? more directly, what are you looking to get out of the modification? if you're looking for "sound" then get either, preferably the wider "tip" (even more preferrably, just get a diff muffler-it's cheaper) if your going for performance, then save your money and put in a full 3" TBE, because there's nothing really "wrong" with the stock STi exhaust (IMHO the note or performance). follow up with EM when funds allow and you will see some very nice gains (especially WTQ, the STi's are great for it). hope this helps
