So I spent about thirty minutes searching the forums and came up with nothing.

    Car:
    2003 Wrx
    115K
    CX racing radiator
    New water pump
    No thermostat
    Fans are perfect

    How it started:
I had straight water in my system so I decided to do a flush and replace with coolant. Once I put the coolant in, my temp gauge would run all the way to the red after about 2 minutes of driving. I also realized that my heat didnt work. I would turn the heat on "4" and it would seem to pulsate. By that I mean a burst of hot air would shoot out the vents for about three seconds then it would return to cold air.

I then decided to replace the thermostat, which did nothing. Then I decided to take the thermostat out completely, which made the problem less intense. Instead of going all the way to the red before the "H", the needle would point about half way between 3/4 and the red. When I cold start the car it warms to "NOT" and will stay there, but as soon as I get on the gas it heats up.

I have flushed my radiator to make sure it flows.
Just replaced my water pump 2K ago
    Fans work fine
    "burped" all the bubbles

    Thanks,

    Griffin

It could be the radiator cap check that. And +1 on on a thermostat.

air still in the system or perhaps a headgasket. water going thru super heated busted headgasket and gets hot when you give it gas. or air caused by the pressure not being correct in the system

I have already stated that I put a thermostat in the car which did nothing for the problem.

All running a car w/o a thermostat does is allow the coolant to flow free. The problem with no thermostat is that the car will, supposedly, not reach normal temps. A car will NEVER overheat because of not having a thermostat.

Ill try flushing and refilling one more time.
