I bought my car used and it has a few oxidation stains on the hood. Is there anything that can be done for this besides repainting the whole thing or am I just out of luck?

Clay bar the hell out of it. Its pretty good to clay the car twice a year anyways but be sure to coat it with a good sealer afterwards.

My normal detail goes like this: wash the car, chamois dry, claybar the car, wash/chamois again to remove claybar funk, buff/polish with Meguir's #7 polish, then coat that in a coat or 2 of Meg's NXT wax.

Bobby told me about 8 hours one time.

Usually takes me about 6-7. Which is why I only do it once or twice every six months.

It's a good thing that I don't have a job right now. It just needs to stop raining. I've never used a claybar before. Where do you get one?

claybar, and you may need to machine polish. I have a porter cable if you want to try it.

edit: am I going to be able to wash my damn car this summer at all, without having to worry about my neighbors turn me in like it's auschwitz? :(
