Well, guess what, the Perrin TMIC doesn't fit with the stock WRX y-pipe. At all. It's about an inch off, I shit you not. Not even a six foot prybar would get it close enough, I can guarantee... So I try the STi y-pipe I have here. I can squeeze it in there, but hey, guess what, the stock BPV doesn't clear the intake runners now! Looks like it needs to be shoved back about an inch or so, which means it'll smack into the a/c lines and the throttlebody hose will be hanging on by a cunthair.. in other words, it ain't going to fit nicely at all. Fun way to spend an hour and a half...
aww man sorry to hear that bro....maybe someone that has a perrin TMIC will shed some light on the situation.... :dunno
I think it'd be ok if I wasn't using the stock BPV.. but I have no desire whatsoever to get rid of that.
I think I'll go ahead and get a longer throttlebody hose, between that and extending the silicone y-pipe I should be able to locate it where the BPV clears and everything sits nicely.
hmm... it took me about 10-20min to install with sti y-pipe. I took out the bracket dat holds driver side IC bolt hole and intake manifold. Plus i have little secret weapon as well... Little investment to save wrenching time -> Here My installation order was (which i learned with STi TMIC) 1. Connect the end of Y-pipe to Turbo outlet and tighten clamp fully 2. Tighten the driver side IC bolt onto the bracket (which is free from the intake manifold) 3. Throttle Body hose 4. Tighten passenger side bolt 75% (not all the way yet) 5. Reinstall IC support bracket onto the manifold 6. Tighten up everything
Sounds like a fun time playing around Chang, alex and I had this issue with a sti tmic on a forrester, took a while to get it seated and we never got it just right (I hate perfectionistic ocd).
