noticed popping noise at slow speed if I turn back and forth. Any suggestions on what this is? I know it can't be good whatever it is. :wtc:
can u be more specific? does it happen when stationary/when changing from forward to reverse and vice versa? where does it seem to come from?
i bet its the rubber top piece on your strut. My friends civic did this like crazy and we checked everything on the cambers and replaced the rubber piece and it stopped.
I noticed it this morning when I started in first and slightly was turning rt. then I went back and forth and it was making the noise. Its a pretty loud pop sound. It sounds like it is in the front suspension somewhere.
Usually a popping sound while turning is a bad CV joint. Common problem on FWD vehicles. Not an expert on the WRX drivetrain, but I'm betting our drive axle's use a CV joint (or something similar). I'd start by looking there first. How many miles do you have on your car, & do you drive it hard through the turns (or offroad)? I'd be kinda suprised to see an '03 with a bad CV joint, but I reckon it's possible. If you've done any recent work on your springs or swaybars, I'd double check those & make sure they're tight & seated as well. -Laters! -Chris!
cv joint...had the same problem....took it to SOG and they fixed it...was still under warranty, thank God.....i have an 03 as well....but it sat for a year in the dealership up north....i guess no Suby fans in NY....good for me
I have almost 57k, need to take it into SOG I guess and let them check it out. I will call Scott first and make sure they actually look at my car this time.
