So this whole bobber style of cruiser has been catching my attention more and more and more. So, now I am thinking of picking up an older bike for cheap, and transforming it into a hardtail bobber.
The possible donor will be a Honda Shadow VT1100 Aero which will go from looking like this

Anyone on here ever work on such a project? Any tips? Experiences? Advice? Any shop recommendations for engine and painting work?

well that donor vt1100 bike i was looking at for 1500 is sold (damn!), so now i'm considering an older shadow...1983 vt750c. i'd probably have the engine bored and the fork raked a little

don't do a hardtail if you plan to ride the thing for more than 30 minutes.

my friend has one, he bought it for $500, put another $500 into it so far, just to get it back to stock. but those bobbers are awesome. and i agree with breel, no hardtail if you plan to ride for any period of time

Hardtail pretty much means solid rear, right? As in no rear suspension at all?
