Possible wiring problem

The cel code on Mr Jiggles ('97 Impreza 2.2l L wagon) is accompanied by a clicking inside the cabin. RPMs drop suddenly with each click, sometimes almost stalling the car. The source of the clicking is a relay. The relay is located behind the fuse box inside the driver's side footwell.

I think it is the fuel pump relay: I pulled the relay out and started the car up and it ran for a few seconds then died as if it ran out of fuel. Also, I don't think the problem is the relay itself because I swapped it with an identical one and the same problem occurred.

I was looking at wiring diagrams all day, (found some on northursalia.com and ken-gilbert.com sites) but I couldn't find on specifically for a 1997 impreza, also, I think the diagrams were for RHD, but not sure.

How can I positively identify this part and, more importantly, what it is connected to?
