since im working on getting this poster thing worked out and im not getting alot of responses, i say we get a bunch of us together and take some pics. a few of us have discussed some cool ideas, but i would love to hear some more and holla if you have some good spots. i hear that parking decks are nice this time of year.
If you could get enough folks willing to drive up to Road Atlanta on an open track day you might could get a good picture with the track in the back ground. It's free to get in to both the paddock and infield or at least it was the last time I went. The one this weekend is probably too short of a notice but I can find out when the next one is. I'm going to go out Sunday for a little while and can ask about the next one. The drawbacks are there isn't a lot of entertain value as it's just tuning their cars and it's pretty far from Atlanta.
The next open track days are July 16-17. We can probably get a group picture at the Top Speed dyno day or somewhere sooner than that. Any other ideas on a location?
i leave for 2 weeks to go play army in the woods on thursday so please take lots of pictures and try and make sure that all the cars are lined up so that no one sticks out more than anyone else. thanks. Tom
Let's try and make it a central location so some of the southsiders may be able to make it. Like me!!
Agreed. I’d like to see as many as possible get together for one pic NOT in a vendor’s parking lot. Somewhere around Turner Field is central however I’d think a pic with something green would be better than asphalt if it not a background like a track. I’m not familiar with that area though. I think we would need an elevation change where we could line up the cars in a pattern and take an overhead shot would be best. Tom will be gone for two weeks.. I want his car in it too. That gives plenty of scouting time for you folks that live in that area if you are game.
Turner field central to whom? It seems like the vast majority of our members live north of the city. Not saying Turner is a bad idea, but I would think we would ask those who live farther out to make the drive rather than have the majority drive downtown for the few. Plus, Turners lot is a private lot. I liked the RA idea, but it would be difficult to get to and I am not sure how Mister Panoz would feel about 20+ Subbies invading his parking lot. Maybe we could do it in a park or field? There are tons of public parks in Gwinnett and Cobb that don't cost money to get into and have elevation changes aplenty. In Marietta there is a Cobb Service Center with a huge parking lot that is public and rarely has even one car in it, it has a major elevation change from the parking lot to the building. If we are going for the urban thing, then maybe someone who works at a smaller company could ask their boss if we could use the parking lot on the weekend and get on top of the building to take the pic? Just my .02, if Turner is the place, Turner is the place.
I am going to start driving around looking for good areas, and if necessary, asking businesses if we can use their parking lot for some pictures. There's a pretty cool office building in dunwoody that this amazing glass facade that would look killer as a background in evening photos
Turner field would be central for a lot of people IMO. It wouldn't kill some of y'all to actually drive a little ways for a meet for once. I'm not trying to cause controversy, because it is true that the majority of subaru enthusiasts are on the northside. We could take pictures from the blue lot as it overlooks where the old stadium used to be, and how cool would it be to have a well known landmark like "The Ted" in the background. This is "WRXatlanta" and not "WRXnorthside!"
I promise you I have spent far more time driving to G2G's downtown than I care to account for. Its all good though, wherever we decide to do it, I will do my best to make it. As for killing us to drive, the argument can go both ways. :eek3: Not to mention that driving in Atlanta traffic, may in fact, kill us... hnoes:
 @ hnoes: What about some place where we could get a picture of stone mountain in the background.
we could take a pic of us invading the kennesaw battle grounds. at the top of the mountain the have a nice ledge u can see stone mountain from. its only open on weekdays though. they have parking for at least 12 and a loop around the parking holes that we could fill for the photos. also they have a over hang over looking the lot thats like 25 ft up or so. but stone mountain would be cool also.
keep the ideas flowing, if this works out really well im going to get a professional photographer to take these pics.
stop crying you bitchs, I have had to drive 45+ mins to every g2g we have had.jk how about a couple pics in front of a police station.
How about a Local HOOTERS??? Get some hooters chicks to pose for some of the pictures. hnoes: Just an idea. ssh: Also there are a lot of state parks up north about an hour that offer some amazing views and scenery.
I am in for Road Atlanta too since I have had to travel quite far like others here. I think a lot of us live up in the North area, but am flexible. I think that a state park would be cool also. Mark
hey when we do figure out when and where and get it taken...i work at an oversized printing studio and might be able to get a good deal on huge prints on kodak photo paper? or maybe just do it on the low as long as I don't get fired :eek3:
Subscribe, I would love to get in on this even if I’m a Columbus guy you wouldn’t throw me out right?
That's really all its going to be, Tom is just looking for a lot of photos. Of course you are more than welcome to join the atlanta crew! :wavey:
again guys, if you have pics or ideas please email me at tommywaterworth@yahoo.com i will get it together as soon as i get enough high res pics together.
