Also Super Easy just a little time consuming

Take a 12 by 4 inch baking dish and butter it.

Slice 4 large baking potatoes very...very thinly

Layer them 1 layer at a time,

    1 layer of potatoes
1layer of Parmesan and fresh pepper
    1layer of potatoes
1layer of parmesan and fresh pepper and Mozzarella
    1layer of potatoes
    etc...etc..

then dump 2 cups of heavy cream over it and bake it at 375 for 20 to 30 minutes.

sounds pretty good. I recommend a mandolin or v-slicer for the potatoes.

reduce the half and half to 3/4 cup, add a few portabello mushrooms, pour over the mixture and push out the air and you have yourself a gratin :)

Yeah I asked the wife for a super bad ass mandolin for christmas.

    Half and Half.....are you on a diet....lol

Portabellos sound awesome, slice them super thin as well I assume.

i wouldn't go too heavy on the mushrooms. just cut them and put a small layer or two in there. bonus points if you want to saute them in butter JUST slightly. probably about 1/4 the amount of potatoes, just eyeball it. gratins are awesome, they are like refrigerator leftover glue (much like omelettes). just load it up with whacha got
