I am looking for some good literature on learning how to tune an ECU. It doesn't have to be Subaru specific, but that would be a bonus. Is there some sort of manual that the dealer guys use like at SOG? I am interested in being able to tune my own Cobb AP on the street. I know its not as good as Dyno tuning it, but it allows me to play around until a Dyno day comes up.

Tim (Wolfplayer) on the iwsti forum did a few good writeups on tuning with Street Tuner. If you can't find them let me know and I'll shoot him an email so he can pass the links on.

There are also some decent books on the topic.

Side note: everybody who wants to play with a turbo car should read Corky Bell's "Maximum boost" for an excellent education on the workings of a turbo system.

When tuning Cobb, is boost read in bar or psi? I know some ecu's require additional software to tune in psi. I current have a boost gauge, but its in bar. I want to get a set of gauges before tuning, but I don't want to be converting units all the time.

You can download the Street Tuner manual off their site.

Street tuning is way better than the dyno. I only use the dyno on my cars to get it close that way I can take it our on the street or track and dial it in.

When I tuned my Supra I did all the tuning on the street but I had an extremely close base map to use.
