Does anyone know the difference between the Prodrive 05 sti springs and the prodrive 05 wrx springs? So far in a lot of searching I've found that the sti's are red (and come w/ new bump stops) and the wrx's are blue...thats all I know.

I was told over the phone by SOG parts dept. (who asked SOG employee Will?) that all 04+ wagon, sti, and wrx sedan springs are the same.

I really doubt this info. How could the rates and heights all be the same? If this is true, Prodrive's 'R&D' must be a joke.

I am really craving some springs this weekend, but I dont want to put some rock hard sti springs on my stock-strutted wrx. But if in fact this is true, I'm gonna go grab a set.

As far as I know the Prodrive STi springs are red and stiffer than the STi stock springs. The Prodrive WRX springs are blue and are not as stiff as the stock STi springs.

I personally feel the Prodrive springs are too soft as I was lifting the front inside tire on hard cornering. This was with 24mm solid sways front and rear.

I think I am going to go with the SPT spring upgrade for the WRX when I change mine. They are about as stiff as you can go on the stock struts. 220ish front and 200ish rear. Prodrive does not disclose their spring rates. The guesses are about 200 front and 160 rear based on the ~25% number Prodrive gives.

    YMMV

The blue WRX springs are rated for the WRX struts, the red STI springs are rated for the stiffer STI struts. I've heard the 05 STI Prodrive springs are the best of the various years of Prodrive springs for 04+; they seem to make them year specific for 04, 05, 06, etc but the 05s have the best reviews.

thanks for the good info guys!

perhaps there was a misunderstanding between me and SOG...i.e. these springs will 'fit' my car, assuming im swapping struts as well. I'm a suspension noob so I dont really know how different in terms of size and fitment there is between 'wrx' springs and 'sti' springs...

Bobby, could I run the 05 sti springs on my car? do you think agx struts would match well with these?

If you are changing struts you can almost run whatever springs you want. Just remember that the rear struts on the 04-07 WRX is different from the rear struts on the 02-03. You will have to have some spacers put in. SoG will know this of course.

If you are changing struts you can run the Prodrive STi springs if you want.

^^^^ What he said, I've heard the AGXs work well up to a 400lb spring. I'd imagine the Prodrives are around the same stiffness as JDM pinks. With the AGXs you can adjust the damping to make any stiff spring ride rather nicely.

In order to use 04+ springs on AGXs you need to get the TiC Strut Spacers and some 04+ rear tophats. There is a much wider variety of springs for 04+ WRXs, wagons especially.
