Good afternoon, The time has come to consider the organization of categories for our club forums. I propose that we condense some of the less used forum categories into each other. This will help us reduce clutter, ultimately making them easier to navigate through and participate in. I have created a poll for this thread which contains the following two options: Yes, I vote that we condense some categories and I will reply to this thread with my suggestions; No, I vote that we leave everything the way it currently is. The point is that I value the feedback from everyone. We all use these forums everyday and I want them to be as easy to use as possible. Please take a moment to consider assisting me to help improve and re-structure our forums. Below is a complete listing (private categories removed) of the forum structure. Please copy and paste your proposed adjustments. Please do not copy and paste a section if you do not intend to edit it. I wish to keep this thread as clear and concise as possible. Looks fine on the theme I run (Standard out of the box vbulletin) I had to choose a color that stood out and signified an adjustment.
For the G2G forum, I think you should keep any of the sub-forums that have a fair bit of traffic/posts and get rid of the others. But if the case is that all of the sub-forums barely get any traffic, just get rid of them. Condensing the forums is a good idea.
I was just going to suggest a black screen with banner and a button in the center that said "new post" but then I thought that would be over doing it. Didn't see (no pun intended) a reason to add anything as I like your ideas. K.I.S.S.

Well, considering half of my posts are in the Off-Topic forum and are made for lulz, there's nothing I can say that's very constructive in the other forums. I just read and try to learn.
yeah (and this is Drew), embedding would be nice. Honestly, though, I vote leave it the same...it's pretty manageable to navigate now, especially when compared to some of the more category intensive sights like nabisco. Honestly, though, I just run the darkness theme and search for today's posts every time i log on...keeps all the vendor bumps out and only shows pertinent shit. Doesn't everybody do this? *edit* and before you claim security issues...well, there's not.
Yeah. I don't really browse through the forums anymore. Just click on New Posts and read through everything.
yeah same here. i just use new posts. except for when im making a post. otherwise. i dont pay attention to the subforums on here much.
I think consolidating would be a good idea. I use either the "New Posts" or "Todays Posts" links for 90% of my surfing here, but when I do need to find a specific thread it is easier to have just main forums instead of 20 different subforums a thread can be under.
another option (and i may be able to change this under user settings, not sure...too lazy to check) to look at would be the forum standard of only showing posts from 1-day or something (at the bottom in individual sub forums). Would be nice if that was 30 days or something...
There's already an option for that per forum. Not sure if it applies to each and every forum once you apply the settings. I've never really found a use for it, and always prefer to have all threads "From the beginning", but it would still be a nice option to have it as a preference.
Being new to these forums, I unfortunately don't have much input. I'm starting to get used to the layout here but that's not saying it's poorly laid out or anything. I read a lot of forums. ZLOA, GCO, Outdoors Trader, NASIOC, Patriot Guard, etc. I do like the "streamlined" layout you suggest in the first post. Thanks for working hard on making this a better place.
Thanks! There isn't much of a way to return from the consolidation short of restoring a database backup. That's the catch and that's something I certainly do not want to do I would love to try it out and see...
The poll is at 10 to 6 for a change. Now is your last chance to voice your opinions or concerns before I try this out over the weekend.
