do our cars have a neutral position sensor? I think thats the proper term. Basically the thing that tells a remote start if the car is in gear so that it wont start when you hit the button. I am gonna do a remote start but if i cant do it were it will only work if the cars in neutral im not going to.

you might be able to find a system that has a sensor in it

I never heard of that sensor. I know that for our TTs they have a sensor for the E-Brake, but nothing for gears. I think that is why most shops won't install Remote Start on a manual trans.

^^^^yep, hell i think i use my tt time to warm up my car more than i use it to cool it down. That might be an alternative if you cannot get a neutral signal.

Yes there is one. I'll go rummage through my pile of tranny conversion links and see where it's at but the car definately has one. If you've got the service manuals I know there's a mention in the transmission section as well as the electric wiring diagrams (much harder to read though).

    There definately is that sensor.

Check out the STi/WRX manual posted somewhere around here.

Gear dependent boost controllers use this, maybe an AVC-R writeup somewhere could help as well.

yea i found out today that you have to go to the ecu, and its hooked up there. I wanted to make sure that it had it, so im gonna get a viper alarm from work and one of the guys is gonna train me to do it and we are gonna hook up the turbo timer part that is a feature on itm as well. So now i will be able to do alarm systems and not just stereos.

there r systems that have those things for e-brakes when ur e brake is up and not in gear it starts, when in gear it will try to start but the in gear sensor wont let it.. so all u gotta do is keep it in netural all the time with ebrake on of course..

i have heard if u guys know where wild willeys (conyers) is they have systems specially for manual trans, it cost a little more but it's worth every penny..

Yup i have the Viper 791xv with remote start but i do not and never had heard of this neutral sensor. if my car is in gear and i try remote starting it it does buck, had to get use to not leavin it in gear but most of the time its parked in my garage anyways lol. i love all the features of the system, im not too worried about leavin it with only the ebrake up. oh and if your lookin for a system i can get you one for a pretty good price, just pm me and i ll find out!

waht you said is false and made no sense.....

i put the 771 viper on my car, all the alarms are neutral and will work with any car manual or not. the neutral position sensor is something a car has or doesnt have. Our cars do, hondas dont.

When i installed my remote start a month ago or so i hooked this wire up, therefore when i leave it in gear my remote will beep back at me and tell me its in gear. It will not crank either. it must be left out of gear and the ebrake has nothing to do with it.
