I have read that when you replace tires on our cars you have to replace all four at the same time because of the AWD system. I currently have Yokahoma AVS ES100 on my car. The back two tires look almost brand new, but the front two are getting pretty worn. I was wondering would it be ok to put two new Yokahoma AVS ES100s on the front, or do I need to go ahead and put four new tires all the way around? I have heard of people shaving the new tires to match the old, but I am not sure about that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
since you seem to have decent mileage on them the best idea is to replace all 4. I believe its 2/32ths of an inch difference is what subaru says is acceptable in tires. Go beyond that and you can kiss 1 or more of your diffs good-bye! You can however rotate tires which would give you some more time on them. Just make sure you keep them on the side they are currently on, ex: driver front to driver rear, driver rear to driver front, etc.
Thanks, two other questions, can running worn tire in the front cause differential problems? Anyone have tire shop suggestions, and tire suggestions for me, I have read the other posts, but I would appreciate any additional input. I would like a balance of cost and performance, and I also need a good alignment done.
An option may be finding a used matching pair of ES100 tires, or shaving a pair to match the tread depth of the other.
Yes I think butler tire and weaver tire in marietta.Butler has several locations not sure if they all do it.
