Just curious if any of you guys have ever applied for/gotten a rebuilt title for a car that had a salvage title here in GA. I just read the states website on the rules etc. Seems pretty straightforward. $100 inspection fee, $18 title fee, pass the inspection and you're golden. is that fair enough? other hiccups to consider? how hard is it to schedule someone to come out to my place and look at the vehicle (since all the state approved inspection stations are around the ATL area and i'm in SAV now)?

I know insurance may be a little higher as well on a salvage/rebuilt titled vehicle, but at some of the prices i have seen it may be worth it.

    thanks in advance,

Your insurance should be cheaper and you can only get collision usually on salvage title cars.

inspection, or emission? inspection is different. I'm guessing they will have someone from the DMV (in Sav) come to check the car out...or you will have to take it to them. Since it's not tagged, I'm assuming they will come to you.

well the inspection stations in the atlanta area require you to bring the vehicle to them, by towing it. but they offer a service that lets someone come out to your house (anywhere in GA) for those not near a station or without the capability to tow.

and i don't need to pass no stinking emmissions down here!

I'm getting a salvage title rebuilt right now. It has pass inspection, make sure it's safe to drive. This has to be done before the vehicle is painted. Then you have to fill out paper work and send to the state which usualy takes 3-5 weeks. I called progressive and got a quote. I told him it was a rebuild and he told me he didn't need to know that. I guess when I call to actually get it insured it may be different. Hope all this helps!
