i have close to a $1,000 and i plan on getting the cobb accessport formy car. its an 02 wrx. i have turbo back exhaust catless and i have a check engine light. now i heard that i can get this tuner and get the stage 2 map and it will get rid of the code and give me more power. is this true?

also i heard that topspeed and batle grounds are good places to go. i've been to topspeed and checked them out and they seem like they know what their doing. is that the best place to go, and do i need to just bring them the tuner and my car or do i need to download the map first?

    thanks.

You can download the ots map over there and then get protuned

Yes, most likely, reflashing the ECU will clear/hide the CEL.

If you are looking for an Cobb AP let me know. It will be worth your while. Also you should check out Mike Sargent for tuning as well.

    Take care!

Take it to topspeed and get them to pro tune it with the Cobb APV2

Just an FYI, you don't have to get tuned to use the AP stg. 2... It will clear your codes and give more power. Installation/downloading the maps is really easy. Don't get me wrong, a protune is a great idea, it just not a 100% necessary depending on your needs.

And since you have an 02 wrx, you still have your stock uppipe or an sti or some other catless uppipe? Just make sure that's catless before using stg2. I think stg1 will work with the stock uppipe.

Your tune will most likely be a little more complex given the rotated kit and all ;) Or just put on the APv2 and save the pro tune for when you are finished modding it.

X2, I'd just run the map for stage 2 that comes with the accessport and then when you mod later, (I.e intake, intercooler upgrade) etc you can get protuned.

i would just use stage one unless you change your up pipe to catless... once you have the up pipe then go stage 2 until you feel the itch to need more and then i would go for a protune... mike sargent is a great guy and can help you out with anything you need!
