So Im putting the VF-39, 06 Injectors, walbro fuel pump and Ebay TMIC. Now the question of course i want Scott to tune it once its all done but im 2 1/2 hours away you think the VF34 map wht the access port will work for those 2 1/2 hours? Just tring to figure out my planb for attack before i get to work on this.
Dunno man. Best bet is to log it and send it to Scott. Log a little cruising, and slight get up and go. If the Siegel says it'll be fine then drive it that way all the way to SOG. otherwise he can tweak it enough for you to get to SOG. That's assuming you have AP.
it should be fine..just dont get into the boost. I drove mine on the stock map with a vf22 and STi pinks for about an hour and it was fine. Again just dont get into the boost
DONT buy the ebay TMIC!!!!!!!!! Find a REAL STi TMIC... Trust me...the ebay ones dont fit well, and are not very good at intercooling at all.
Ok thanks for the help. I would of called Scott but hes always busy and dont want to interupt Its on an 03 right now and actually fits very well, shockingly, Plus im getting everythinf for 300$.
I'll have to respectfully disagree with this sweeping statement. Yeah, many of the ebay ones are crap, but lots of people have had great success with certain ones. There was a very long discussion on one of the STi boards about one (I think it was Dynasty Auto) that they had actually done pressure drop tests and temperature tests on and it performed VERY well. The STi top mount isn't much of an upgrade compared to third party ones.
buy my AP & ST for the price less than brand new ap ($650 vs $699). :naughty: scott can still protune it and save it in ST file format. in thisway u can also datalog and tweak little bit whne u go back to ur home town (to compensate slight environment difference)
I got an access port and open ECU on a laptop, and if needed all i have to do is send the loggs to scott and he can fix them. Buttttttttt I know an 04 wrx that needs EM. I migh tbe able to work something out
I think I'd rather buy a new laptop with the $650 and use openECU. I was also looking at those TMIC on Ebay and speaking to Gary at SOG, he said those are ok or try to find a STi TMIC for my 06 WRX. I might go with a STi one just to be sure.
Bah the ebay ones probably vary, but the ssautochrome is a nice intercooler. It required minor adjustments to fit, but not much really. I have heard the same about the Sti on wrx's. It is also bar and plate which is a more efficient design than fin and tube like the wrx and Sti intercoolers. 2 psi pressure drop or .5 take your pick! Would you rather have your turbo having to push 20 psi just to see 18 in the manifold or 18.5 to see 18 in the manifold? Much better for trying to go higher boost and keep things in the efficiency range (not to mention not overworking the turbo) of the turbo.
