Alright, I'm sick of PMing Will about every little question I have so it's time for the rest of you kids to take a whack at it :naughty:

Will the rear discs from an early 90's Legacy fit in place of the drums on my 97 OBS?

yes. You will need the entire knuckle/hub assy. Best to just take the entire stock assy off and put the new assy on.

anything else is a waste of time.

Also, make sure its for 4WD/AWD as yours is AWD.

Cool. Total cost at the junkyard will be about $80.

Not including having the rotors resurfaced and getting new pads - who wants to help with this one?

Okay so, um...how do I tell looking under the car if it's AWD?

I found a driver's side on a car I know is AWD, but someone already swiped the passenger's side :|
