So lately when i come to a stop, the rear end seems to kinda pop and then sit down just a tad. Its nothing huge but just wondering what it is... The only thing that i could come up with was that maybe my back left tire is worn more than the back right and it's winding up the diff? The tire size thing is a possibility from some of the one directional slides i've done... Is this possible or should i look somewhere else??

Have peeked under the back of the car and double checked the Sway bar to make sure it didnt flip?

Mine was making strange noises when it got flipped.

And as far as the strut clunk, it's possible... i'm gonna get under it tomorrow and check things out... I'll check the sway bars, thats a good place to start... Thanks :).

I looked under the car and everything looks fine. I'm leaning towrads the diff. Maybe one tire being warn a tad more than the other has something to do with it?

I also recall this symptom is listed in the Owners guide to the unique characteristics of this car related to the Limited Slip Differential . I sometimes get this effect when the car is initially moved from a standstill; even the sales person mentioned it on the first car I test drove.

At about 5,000 miles on my '05 STi, [what turned out to be my L Rear shock], started sticking and making audible low speed clunks gradually increasing including stops. I ID'd it when pulling the rear bumper up and down. Warranty replacement was made at no cost.
    good luck

The bushings of the rear diff are known to make a noise on the sti...TiC (turn in concepts) even has a "clunk killer" kit. Its possible that the bushing back there is dead, but thats difficult to spot w/o removing it regardless.
