so as I am getting ready for the big install day, i am tinkering about a new set-up for my car... I feel like the prodrive springs will be too soft even with the d-specs, but I really like the drop it has (i would want to go even lower in the back to get rid of the raked look though).

I`m thinking of sti springs as a quick/cheap replacement, but what are some other options you guys recommend?

im guessing the change to swifts will be night and day considering the spring rates... did u have any sagging in the rear? it seems like that's a common issue with those springs

now i am considering rce yellows for many reasons but mainly for:

1.looks (it matters to me yes)
    2. spring rate
    3. my belief that stiffer will give me better ride vs bobblehead from soft springs as long as the car doesnt feel like skateboard rough

any auto-x or track race guys have opinions please chime in!

    Here's what I said before...

Find the springs that best match the valving of your new D-Specs. The Swift R's felt great on my STi adjustable FP assembly.

i wish you had them on so i can feel the ride haha... i think i need a different spacer for the rear to fit the swifts also though... i dunno i`m in such a dilemma but one thing is for sure the prodrives have got to go hahaha

i think d-specs at full stiff would be sufficient for the rce yellow right?

Just my opinion... but I thought my STI rode like a tank with the RCE Yellows. Felt great in turns and aggressive driving... but for a DD, it was not fun. I loved the ride height(it was perfect), just not the crash over every bump....

choices choices choices... swift r spec requires 04-07 tophats is that correct?

04 STi tophats are a bit bigger, meaning wider in circumference as compared to 05-07 tophats.

I don't remember TBH as I was rocking the PDE camber plates. Rebound is whats important in this formula as that is what controls your "comfort" level --- ultimately, how long does the valving move at various speeds. Ideally you want a setup that is quick at low speeds but slow at high speeds. It all depends on how linear or "non-linear" the rebound curve is. This way, a small bump feels like a small bump and a large bump feels like a large bump. When I had the RCEs on stock struts and beef swaybars all bumps felt like large bumps.

If this was nasioc then it would be RCE, but if you actually have a clue Swift every time. There's a reason they are so popular in all forms of racing.

Nasioc or IWSTI.... I drank the RCE Koolaid myself... After two different cars and spring combo's... Its my opinion that you have to spend big cash to do suspension right (Ohlins fixed perch etc...).. Aftermarket springs on stock shocks or bargain coilovers usually result in teeth breakers...

I have BC's with Swift springs, feels like an autobahn bruiser on the highway and nice and tight in the twisties. Well it did before it was parked.

I'm far from "correct" as there is no one "winning" combination for suspension. That's what I do not understand about how everyone aligns behind a single brand -- suspensions are like shoes in the sense that not everyone can wear the same shoe and still be comfortable.

omg... tony@turninconcept swears by the yellows and keeps telling me the ride is not bad at all... arghhhh

either one requires a new rear tophat anyways haha... just looking for more opinions/suggestions

That's cool. Clint is the one that talked me into the Swift Spec-Rs. The other thing to remember is that those guys own a speed shop and competitively enter events. Whereas, you're daily driving your car ;)
