as some of you guys know, i'm still new to GA...so i am posting here to find out where you all suggest i go to get my new wheels mounted and balanced with the utmost care. i hear horror stories about random shops, so it'd be best to know ahead of time where to go and what to expect. ooorrr perhaps, it is ok to go to any joe schmoe place...? the wheels are 18s with 235/40
Gran Turismo East in Norcross is the only place I trust. Call and ask for Kieran he will take care of you
Gran Turismo is definitely one of the best shops around. I have never heard a single complaint about their service.
+ 1 for GT East..... Butt if you can't get over there go to SMYRNA TIRE ask for Mike he will take care of you.... 2690 S COBB DR SE SMYRNA (770)434-0052
dont go to ga tire depot rotated my own tires and found out they stripped 2 lugs on my front passenger tire
Never had experience with GTE but when I was looking for a place to mount the RE01R's I got from Drew GTE freaking wanted $150 to mount and balance my tires since I was bringing them the tires. OUTRAGEOUS......locally here at home I get all my tires mounted and balanced for $40.
so i finally have my wheels... question...when balancing, where are wheel weights supposed to be placed on my new wheels so that they are not on the lip or someplace where they will be an eyesore? do i have to request it, or will it be common sense for the tech?
Most places will just use stick on weights that will be on the inside of the rim. Unless you go to Walmart or someplace really cheap
I've been to both Smyrna Tire and GTE. GTE is a bit more of a racer-ish shop, whereas Smyrna Tire is more of the regular day kinda place. The staff at both are excellent and you will be taken care of either where you go. No matter your expectations, you should always come prepared to express your concerns regarding the service being performed. For example, I always ask for my lugs to be hand tightened with a torque wrench and that weights be placed inside (not on the edge). Just because we think it is common sense doesn't mean that the tech having a bad day will
thanks for the advice!! i plan to put the wheels on the car myself...i just need to get the tires thrown on. i'll probably be heading to smyrna tire since they're pretty close. i'll post pics when everything is good
We also do in house mounting and balancing as well, for those in the Marietta/this side of town locations. Good mounting and balancing is expensive, but the good shops don't scratch your wheels, tear up your beads, or sully your car. We also don't use low wage guys to change tires. It's the same experience techs that perform our mechanical labor here. And if you are really lucky, I get to do your tires....haha....I often get stuck doing them.
i suck at photography...any tips on taking better photos? these were all on auto mode. i need to roll the rear fenders for sure...the back rubs on hard turns and make the worst noise i've ever heard i am debating on whether to go coilovers or not...the drop looks perfect with the wheels to be honest, i just need camber bolts in the front...any tips on camber specs to run?
Smyrna tire. Went there bc convenience was a big factor for me. Not many speedshops are open on weekends, and I work 2 jobs. A+ work. Great guys there. Mike def took care of me. While I was there, someone dropped of a nice 04-05 black sti.
I'm glad Smyrna Tire worked out for you. They're always a pleasure to deal with Regarding the photography, what kind of camera are you using? Are you able to make any manual adjustments?
