Hey if you need it installed i can do it for ya for like 150$ as long you have the inpact gun w/ compressor and i get your help to put it back in. Trust me its alot easyer to have it done with someone that knows what they are doing. I have done a few of them.
When you thinking of doing this? I have a ton of pics from when I did mine 6 times if you can wait for me to load them up on the site.
not sure if this is true or not but i think you have to make sure you get the pressure plate correctly aligned, bc my wrangler made a funky noise bc of it. i am curious abuot this myself, all i know is you have to drop the tranny. Im sure its easily a 2 man job.
I did mine myself twice but it was very hard. As far as lining up the pressure plate the only thing you can line up is the pressure plate and the flywheel. My sponsor balanced the assembly for me and made marks to line the flywheel and PP up. All I had to do was install the two making sure that the lines matched that Zoom put on the flywheel and PP. There is nothing else to line up with the exception of making sure the clutch is dead center which is what the clutch tool is for. It's not that hard just that tranny is heavy as crap trying to lift it back onto the engine. Some say to slide the engine forward but I had to take the entire case off for other reasons and I have a lift so that helped.
it will go alot easier if you have two large jacks and 2 guys to help you. if you need my help let me know also you will need to order 2 new spring pins
can i get those spring pins for autozone or do i need to go over to SoG? Install day right this instant. I could use help and offer like 150 bucks for your help + food. I have the tools. I have no idea how to do this =\
It was finished two days ago. It wasn't so much me doing it as much as my friend. It was a good learning experience and if I attempted to do this myself even with instructions (I don't know about a service manual though), I doubt I would have gotten very far. Exhuast and intakes are one thing, but this really requires more knowledge of cars than what I currently know. The clutch feels a lot stiffer now and engages sooner too. I actually stalled once yesterday going from reverse to 1st backing out of my parking spot at work. We didn't install the flywheel because it dosn't properly align with something. I think it was the pressure plate. I'm hoping to send that back soon. I can't wait to break 500 miles and let loose. And I can't wait till sudnay for the drag event @ Silver Dollar with Import Showdown. I still need to install my uppipe. That looks like it'll be a pain but i think I will be able to do this mod myself.
Grats. Yes it's involved but I thought it was the easiest tranny install I have ever done. Those DSM's I used to own were a major pain mostly do the side location of the tranny and practically no room to slide it off easily.
