wasn't sure where to put this but its a follow up to my oil burning smoking exhaust issue. I copied my post from nasioc, and yes it was oil that was leaking somewhere. The back of the turbo looks like black undercoating was applied.
I know additives are not usually the best course of action, but I was desperate. I had the same problem a lot of people are having with the blue-gray smoke pouring out my exhaust like the turbo was leaking or the seals were shot. I had actually lost 10whp on the dyno. This was not an isolated incident it was everyday for the last month and it was getting worse. Last week I put some Restore in with my oil and low and behold about 3-4 days later I haven't seen the smoke since and my power seems to have returned. Either I got lucky or this crap is really good. What do you guys think about this?

If it works its just masking a real mechanical problem. Sooner or later it will get worse.

My car started to smoke and it turned out to be a cracked ringland. This stuff might have stopped the smoke but I would have probably damaged my cylinder walls.

ok, that's an obvious canned answer that we already know, but the fact is this product actually works to some extent. If I don't have to buy a turbo or have engine work done right now then hey... it's worth it.

    Goose013,
It may be an obvious answer, but often, the "gets worse" will happen at a time and place where you least need it to occur, and in a fashion which is worse than if you had just fixed it properly to begin with. I think Liquid was just trying to point that out. I used "fix a flat" once because I didn't feel like getting the spare out. It fixed my flat, but I had to have the tire replaced because it left a gooey residue inside the tire that wouldn't come off and caused the tire to be premanently out of balance....

    edited for spelling...

    BelvnAWD,
Basically what I was getting at with my reply was yeah we know the problem will get worse as you go but on the other hand I was about to buy a used td04 and now I'm not until I can save some $$ and better afford it. For now the 6 bucks for the Restore has done wonders. Obviously I know it will eventually get worse and I'm not advertising a miracle additive, but I did check into it and it actually seems to be good for your engine.... unlike the fix-a-flat for your tires. By the way, FYI everyone, once you use the fix-a-flat stuff you can no longer get your tire patched if another hole should occur in addition to it being out of balance.
