Well Getting around o reviewing the HKS Fan Controller.

Seems like a rare piece so here we go.

    Description:
    HKS Fan Controller

The multiple functions completely keeps track of water temperature control necessary for tuned cars and for circuit driving.

    Characteristics

Characteristic 1: Water temperature display function
Mounts real time display function of water temperature.

By adding a sensor, it is possible to display other operating temperatures. Up to two additional sensors can be installed.
Has peak hold function to memorize and display the maximum temperature value.

Has a warning function that uses a backlight and buzzer sound to warn the user when the temperature exceeds the specified value. Rising and declining temperature conditions can be seen with the blinking of the backlight.

Characteristic 2: Electric-powered fan control made easy

The beginning and ending temperatures for the fan rotation can be set at the user’s own discretion in increments of one degree centigrade (1°C.)

On vehicles mounting two electric-powered fans, it’s possible to control each fan independently.

Characteristic 3: Radiator cooled by use of water spray
In vehicles where a water spray function is installed according to factory specifications, rearrangement of the wiring allows unimpeded control of the spray. Also, even in vehicles without a factory-designated water spray function, the water spray function can be utilized by attaching the recommended optional parts. The spray injection pattern can be selected from a variety of patterns, including three types of fixed patterns, six types of manual patterns and Two types of user-designated patterns.

The activating temperature for automatic injection can be arbitrarily set in increments of 1°C, from 40°C to 120°C.

    * One of the optional parts recommended for purchase is the water spray nozzle and hose (Subaru factory-designated part) for the Impreza.

    Characteristic 4: Installing Optional Parts

An external switch can be optionally installed in order to install the water spray switch at any arbitrary location.

The additional sensor comes in a set with the harness and conversion fittings (M12 P1.25). The sensor responds to a temperature range from -30°C to +150°C. The sensors can be used to determine engine room temperature, water temperature, oil temperature and air intake temperature.

Stock Fan Operating Temp:Radiator Fan on at 205 Degrees
    How they operatate:
    http://www.autocds.ru/2004%20STI/08.%20MECHANISM%20AND%20FUNCTION/07.%20COOLING/06.%20Radiator%20Fan.pdf

    Why it is useful:

The stock computer has fuel and timing offsets for water temp.
Helps take Advantage of Lower degree Thermostats
Set fans to cool off your car during staging, autox cool down etc.
Enables STi owners to controll water spray, multiple spray patterns, and temp settings to activate spray.
    Coolant temp sensor.
Quick setting back to stock fan temp operation.
Lower coolant temps=lower oil temps, stock oil cooler is water cooled using same cooling circuit.
    Help with Detonation Resistance.

    Why it would not be:
    Stock Car
    No urgent Cooling Needs
    Stock Thermostat
    Cold Climate
Values possibly changable in ECU via ecutek or other software(not confirmed)
    Not keen on splicing.

So far I am in love with it, look forward to getting a working 160 thermo and experimenting with fan temp settings, would like to keep water temp around 180-185ish.
May use the built in sprayer and relocate to radiator, no switch kit needed since it is built into car already.

Setup currently it is used to control the A/C and Radiator speeds, One setup is cool down, where I can leave the turbo timer on a long cooldown 10min, set the cutoff to 140 degrees, and the car will be cooled off quickly. Normal Driving Rad fan on at 185, A/C fan on at 190, both fans shut off at around 175 degrees. Temp waring is set to 210 degrees.

Overall I give the piece:[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] (Of 5)
    Price:$150-$170
Install:Requires ECU Wiring and knowledge of pin outs.
User Interface: Easy/Medium Difficulty, Small buttons can cause chaos if in a hurry.

nice review, but a pic of the controller would be nice. I am considering this now.

    There ya go man :)

So far with everything working been able to keep coolant sub 198 constantly, not seen one temp the stock fan would come on at 205+, regardless of how hard I run the car.
