WRX Atlanta, Im happy to tell you that I have recently aquired the opportunity to get Royal Purple at a discounted rate. It will cost about 30 -60% less than buying it in the store. I ran into a Royal Purple rep the other day at the gas station, and he loves Subies. Doesnt have one, but admires them. We chatted for a bit, after telling me to give him a call anytime to get oil. I mentioned the WRX Atlanta group, and he siad no problem. I wanted to see how many would be interested in getting Royal Purple Oil, or any of Royal Purple products. I will soon have a price list on everything. I needed to know who is interested, your location (exp. Atlanta, Marietta, Kennesaw etc.) as well as which products you are interested in. I will keep you all posted on the subject.
I have been a loyal Rotella user because of cost and it seems not to break down as fast in our engines. I would need to know some more facts, more info about this oil. I am open to it though.
Honestly when it comes to oils I dont know alot. Maybe some others on the forum will be able to break it down more for you. For the mean time here is a link to there website and all the facts about the oil, and why you should use Royal Purple. When I first bought my car, i dont know what kind of oil SOG put in the car, but I burn about 2 qts in 5000 miles. (not good) I switched to Royal Purple and I only burned 1 qt in 6000 miles. I dont know if that is the oil or just the way I was driving. I like it. http://www.royal-purple-industrial.com/
The more the better. The ulitmate goal is to setup individuals in specific areas that would be willing to handle all the members in there area, that way we only have 5 people calling royal purple and not 50. Since we only be dealing with one rep, dont want to over whelm him, make him take back the offer.
I did 3 oil changes with RP and it seemed very watery to me on the way out. I had bought enough for 3 changes so I used it...I'm a Moble 1 fan
See it goes to show, its all a matter of preference. I used mobile one in my nissan, but my father always used RP in the drag car so I whiched. I am not pro one for the other, but I do know some that I will never use. I did do some research in some oils, like pennzoil and quaker state. They are developed from the same oil process that makes pariffin wax, which is also made from crude. Which has a tendancy to build a wax like flim that can plug your pump or your filter. Those 2 I do know about.
All products that Royal Purple offers. As soon as i find out how many people and what areas they are located in, I will get a list of products and prices out there. 5 gallons of 10w30 will run around 64 bucks. Thats 20 quarts, or 4 oil changes.
I've really been wanting to try it, but I can't really afford it at retail so this is great! Count me as a yes!
The manual says that 10w-30 is also just fine for weather above freezing. You only need the thinner weight as you get below freezing for very cold starts. I might be interested in some oil and tranny fluid as well.
It will be coming soon. Im just getting setup at the moment. I wanted to see how many would be interested first hand. What I need to do as well now, cause honestly I wont be able to handle but loads of orders, is have 4 or 5 people in the locations where demand is. Have one individual who would be willing to help do orders in there location.
I dont think you'll have that much demand all at once to where you can't handle the orders one by one. Yea alot of people are interested in the discount, but everyones not gonna need oil at the same time. Just my .02 Oh, and I am interested in the discount too. I use Royal Purple Oil, but after using the tranny fluid in my tranny (along with Face and One I Guy) I think its too thin to do gears any good. Even after the fresh change my gears were grinfing. I'd suggest Extra S or Scotty Cocktail for Subaru's.
I only mention the idea of multiple users help, cause for instance. It would be shipped to my door, and those in further locations than Atlanta or Marietta, would be hard to get to. For your gear oil they offer lots of grades 75w90 75w140 80w90 85w140 90
Gotcha. I used the same gear oil grade recommended by Subaru. Just my input from personal experience. If people wanna use the tranny oil go ahead but I will stand behind the Scotty Cocktail (which was actually cheaper to make) and I've got a jug of Subaru Extra S waiting to go in. Thanks for the hook up though
Ok so I have good news and bad news. Good news is Ill have the price list up tonight and will start ordering next week. Bad news is I was just informed from Royal Purple that they cant do delieveries below LaGrange. Everything north of that is good to go. I was under the assumption that the deliveries would be shippments, I was wrong. The delivers are made threw districts. My guy im using is primarly Northern and Western Georgia. If some of you who live down south ever come this direction alot. Im sure we could figure out a way. If you have a truck i can even get you 50 Gal Drums of it. ha ha ha.....
