is rust a regular occurence on exhuast systems? I put about 30k on my stock and never got rust, but this aftermarket is less than 10k and has rust...
Random Tech has a tendency to develop surface rust. Its nothing major, you could just take some steel wool and take it right off.
should i then use any chemical or polish to protect the sucker? and what grade of steel wool would be okay?
i wouldnt personaly use steel wool, it may remove the rust but it will leave fine scratches in the metal. go to any hardware store and ask them, i know there is this jelly that removes surface rust like a champ, i just cant remember the name of it.
if you mean Naval Jelly... thats stuff is really really heavy... is it safe to use on something like that? and the rust is only on parts of the muffler, not the tip, so i wouldn't mind a little bit of 0000 grit swirl marks...
Well, if you create a rough surface of any kind I guarantee you you'll have more rust than you ever thought possible. Look into a clear rust coating like everbrite or something.
No, remove and protect... just don't remove and leave it or you'll end up with more rust than before.
oh...sorry it took me so long to answer this but i had the same problem on my Random Tech exhaust....I use "never dull" and some elbow grease and your good to go!!!
