I have an exhaust leak coming from my up-pipe, something to do with the bolt. How serious of a problem is this. Should i give it immediated attention or is it ok for me to worry about it on a day when I have more loot. What are the consequences of not fixing immediately and why does SOG want $400 to fix? Oppinions and ideas appreciated.

The uppipe install requires a lot of time to do, because you have to remove exhaust manifold and dp to gain access to it.

The exhaust gas could start burning things inside of your engine compartment. There are wires that are very close.

If you lose exhaust pressure, your turbo cannot spool as efficiently as before. This may result in your car running rich a lot and feeling sluggish. Not to mention it may start to sound very loud under your hood.

You will lose power and make extra noise but it will not hurt your car.

If its just missing a bolt/stud/nut, six of the seven can be reached easily. The seventh may require removing the down pipe.

Sweet. That was the answer I was looking for. I plan to fix it but with the Holidays round the corner, i wanted to wait. I just don't want to cause any major engine problems.

  6. Get it fixed, no buts about it.

A few more questions for you:

Is the uppipe the stock one?
Is the leak at the top or the bottom ?
Do you hear it all the time or just under boost?
Did you check to see if the egt sensor backed out?

^^^^^ The leak is at the top i believe and the pipe is not stock: I don't understand or know the answer to the other two questions.

I agree with where Liquid was going, there is a high likelihood that the EGT sensor has just backed out. You need to get your hands in there and find where it's coming from.

If you want, call TopSpeed on Monday and make an appointment for us to check it for you.
