Sorry, I didn't want to intrude on the other Short Shifter thread so I decided to start my own. Well basically, I want to get a short shifter for my WRX, I was looking around on the Sakari Motorsports page and I'm looking at the KartBoy short shifter for the 02+ WRX. "The Kartboy Short Throw shifter replaces the stock shift lever in 2002-2006 model year Subaru Impreza vehicles." "The Kartboy Shifter Bushings replace the stock shifter mount bushings in 1998-2004 model year Subaru vehicles, including Impreza RS, WRX (not the WRX STi, yet)Outback Sport, Legacy, and Forester." So the lever itself replaces the stock one but the bushings don't. Do the bushings really make a difference or will it be fine without the bushings?
I'm mildly curious about short shifters too. I do know that our bushings aren't the best to start with though. I'd like to get better bushings for sure.
I've got the kartboy and bushings both in my sti. Love them and it made a HUGE difference in shifting (though I think it's actually hurting me at the strip - not that it matters much) I would look into getting the bushings changed if I were you.
Check this link out. I really don't see why the bushings wouldn't work. It's not like they put in a new tranny for the 06's. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=961567&highlight=bushing If Sakari isn't able to find out if they work or not, look up and call turninconcepts.com. Find out from them if they'll work or not, then give Sakari a call and get some ordered. That way you'll get the answer while supporting a local vendor. :bigthumb:
jayj713, I already comfirmed this with Tom @ Kartboy and they do fit the 06 I replied to your PM. Let me know. Michael Also to clear things up from the description you've posted, they now do have the bushings for the STi's. We also carry the TiC bushings!
Short Shifter installed successfully! Only the shifter though, not the bushings yet. I'm going to have to wait until next weekend to get the bushings in.
