I helped Joe (JL889) install the shifter and bushings combo on his 05 sti. It is alot stiffer and the throw is literally just clicks haha PM me if you need a quote
wrx shifter install is a joke compared to the STi lol. I mean the bushings are the same but STi shifter with the reverse lock, it's pretty complicated but fairly easy if you take your time. I will help installing them at the install day if anyone needs help
yea the wrx SS install is cake..bushing isnt that bad either..never done an sti so I have no experience there
Also make sure to zip tie the reverse cable out of the way when installing the shifter on the STi 'cuz it'll rub on the driveshaft...
I thought it was an easy thing but it seemed complicated for some reason...I wasn't wrenching so....there was this one peice that never fit though....wasn't a bushing something else in the linkage
I remember shady mentioned a fitment issue about the rear bushing which I believe you are referring to... It is a very tight space especially to get to the bolts but like I said it's nothing hard, just time consuming. When I said the wrx install is much easier than the sti, I was mainly refering it do the shifter it self.
yeah that part was easy...that rear bushing never got installed if I remember correctly...couldn't get it to fit
I  my kartboy. I would check the Cobb due to height adjustability. The installs not bad, just make sure you've got the right punch for the pin.
I have the kartboy with all bushings as well. Its very crisp shifting. You can feel it go into gear with very little play. Its really difficult to miss a shift with the bushings. As far as Cobb being adjustable, it doesn't matter, because you will have it at full stiff and max short, which is still worse than the throw the kartboy allows. The rear shifter bushing is a pain to get to, but if you are patient and don't mind working around the driveline its not bad. Just take your time, and maybe have a friend help you thread the two bolts while the other holds it in place or something. Just make sure you don't try and put the mount on upside down, watch how the stock one comes off. Kartboy for the win!
heres install video for COBB Part 1: part1 Part 2: part2 I recommend to clean the bushing and oring and put some grease in the lower ball and white plastic bushing prior to install How bout group buy (smile) If no GB i think im goin the Perrin
it was a brushing that goes in tranny from bottom.. didnt fit no screws was a mess also we had to customize the shifter for kartboy to make it fit for a 02.. mic did u sent me the wrong shifter can u check plz?
I have the cobb tuning and I have the bushings. I havent put the bushings in yet and I have had it for a year. I am going to put the bushings in someday. Does anybody have the instructions to put the bushings in.
Sounds like you got the wrong shifter. I didn't have any problems with installing the shifter and bushings as far as having the proper fitting parts. Also, you may get a nice draft if you leave the boot off, not to mention some noise.
I'm not exactly understanding what you are trying to say... First of all, the bushing does not go in the tranny... Second, I don't understand what screw you are talking about... Third, let me know how you customized it... Lastly, which bushing are you talkin about? shifter bushings or the rear bushing? Shifter bushings = 2 circle bushings Rear bushing = 1 rectangle bushing with two holes Let me know. Thanks Michael
