Ive been looking around at different short shifters for my 07' STI and think Im going to go with the KartBoy over the Cobb as it seems that more people prefer the KB. Do I order the shifter with the front and rear bushings or do I just get the shifter and the TIC bushings that I have heard people talk about? or both....how does it work?

The F/R bushings should be enough. The shift is really stiff on my WRX with those. You will also get a lot of vibration noise from the tranny through the shifter, but the sound is worth the crisp shift. I cannot understand paying the extra money for the Cobb SS. Just because its adjustable doesn't mean anything. Most people will put it on the shortest setting possible, which is equivalent to the KB SS.

I have the Cobb Short Shifter on my 06. I may have adjusted it once in the year I've had it. It's a nice piece, but eh, not so important on the adjustability. It wasn't terribly easy to get in either.

Get an Ixizshift. Support local guys.

Not to be anti-local vendor, but I have the Kartboy for 5MT and it's superb. Granted, I heard Will say that every STI he's ever driven with a short shifter was balls awful.

Edit: As for the bushings, I haven't upgraded mine and the shifts are still wonderfully crisp with just the right amount of effort. However, you and I, once again, have completely different transmissions. Maybe you could buy just the bushings and install those to see if that improves your shift feel enough. It's just that the shifter itself would be pretty much a royal PITA to install on a six speed and it may not do all that much good over the stock piece. Just my .02. Good luck!
