Does anyone have any good techniques to sucessfully remove a stubborn exhaust silencer?

I have and really like my Invidia G200 that mckenziejt installed today, but the silencer is really stubborn and I've tried to remove it twice. ( both times walking away to keep from destroying the tip. )

I dont have any problems with my invidia silencer going in and out. What exactly is giving you problems about removing it?

It really seems to be crammed in there. I removed the retaining screw and it won't budge.

I dont have a silencer but i think i know what it is

I may be way off but maybe this is an idea

Use a coat hanger, straighten it, bend it in half, bent the two ends to shape like a hook, cover the hook area with some tubing if you are concerned about marrking the insides of your pipe. OPen it wider than the opening of the silencer, close it so it will spring open when fully inserted and when spring open and catches the inside lip (both hooks). spray some wd40 (on cool exhaust of course). Start pilling the hanger and maybe it will come out. turn the hanger 90deg every so often so its not pullling only on one position

I agree with the potato idea, but add some db blaster or WD-40.

have you tried taking it off when the muffler is hot?

The tip needed to be hot and a hell of a lot of pulling with channel-lock pliers, and I used a sock to keep from scratching the silencer any more than I did already.

First I'd attach eh channel-locks to the bottom oof the bottom of the pipe and then the top. and kind of shimmy it out of the exhaust tip.

    That's what worked for me.

I noticed that when teh slencer is in it's loud when I hit the throttle hard, not it's loud at anything but idle, but it is a great low rumble. :)
