So it's my day off and I got bord NEW PICS PG2

And decided to start on my dash "makeover" let me know what you guys think and just keep in mind this is def. the rough draft. I have touch-up paint at work and I still have to affix the timer to the tab in the back

    Nice.

That's where I want to mount my meth injection controller.

That is where I put my meth controller it was not that hard. Just gotta shave the plastic a bit more so the vent can be screwed back on tight.

Nah it's not hard at all you just have to use a little caution cause the dremel wants to melt the plastic more than cut it.

Well I got to work today and the touch-up paint wasn't working for me so I was talking to the line-x guy that sprays for our shop and I got the funny idea to spray all the little silver pieces with line-x. I think I am going to tape everything off that needs to be the right diameter and spray it all sometime next week. The guy said that he can make it where it is like 1/16 or maybe 1/32 if he really takes his time. Just thought that this would be unique and a way to somewhat color match to the rest of the dash

    Line-x like the rubber stuff?

I just sprayed mine with plasti-dip, turned out pretty cool :)

Line-x is a spray-in bedliner but yeah it is a little rubbery but a little more rough than the plasti-dip, its kind of like textured plasti-dip

Looks like you hacked that plastic above the timer pretty good, are you gonna be able to smooth that out?

I think that the line-x will take care of that pretty well if I decide to go against the line-x I will put some plastic epoxy over it and sand it down smooth and paint it. Either way it will be fine I think.

If I ever do this again then I think I will use a little slower tool to cut the plastic cause the dremel just wanted to melt through instead of cutting. If I were at work when I did this I probably would have used a sawzall.

Yeah I have to scuff it up a little bit with some 1000 grit or something and then take it to line-x.

    no chemical cleaning or primering?

Oh I thought that you meant to make the line-x stick.....but nothing more than a little paint thinner to get all the dirt off and then the 1000 grit

okay... hope it turns out well.

I've had hella bad luck with interior plastics if I didn't make sure i got some primer to bond ahead of time. a nice flexible one that wouldn't crack at the first sign of stretching.

I'll ask the line-x guy on monday when I talk to him... but I am pretty sure the line-x will stick to anything.

Here are the prep pics and the paint pics. I'll get some installed pics up and going soon.

Oh and for those who were wondering I decided against the line-x after talking with the guy that owns the place. (He said that the AC controls may be affected by how thick the line-s would be)

    Here are the pics
