Happened at shitty Chipotle parking lot on Ponce. APD came out after 2.5 hours, but wrote no report, as it is private property. My wife was going through the parking lot and lady in Prius backed into the passenger side of the car. Front right door is probably ok- just the center molding scraped, rear passenger door is crumpled bad, rear quarter panel will need to be replaced also. Definitely no structural damage, just dented in enough to kill the sheet metal. I'm guessing best we can hope for is 50/50 split as no fault will likley be assigned, even though my wife essentially got T-boned by somebody backing into her. Our insurance is Geico, the other part is State farm. Do we bother putting a claim on the State farm insurance? we already notified Geico. Also can anyone recommend a body shop that will do quality work? Live in Tucker.
I had all of my body work done at AutoGlo at the recommendation of SoG, top notch. They take an extra week or so, but their work speaks for itself. That sucks, I had the same thing happen to me in a parking deck at Tech, though the lady tried to say it was my fault for speeding through the deck. I actually wasn't even moving as I was waiting to turn left into a spot and another car was coming the opposite direction. GTPD laughed out loud as she tried to tell the story...however, her insurance (Geico) covered everything with zero issues. GL, sorry to hear
I would contact State Farm and blame her. If she actually backed into your wife and your wife was trying to move forward, then it was her fault and not your wife's.
I've never had an issue with Artcraft in Smyrna. They're courteous, timely, honest and do good work -- what more could you want from a bodyshop? Also, if you're paying out of pocket they offer a discount to community members. http://artcraftcollision.com/
Thanks for all the feedback. Since Autoglo comes recommended and are right in my backyard, I will likely end up there.
monk sent his 2.5i there 2 years ago when he lives in gwinnett somewhere. Having said that, SoG sends all their damaged cars to AutoGlo.
I was in an accident simular. Someone backed out of their parking space into the side of my Taurus. I called State Farm (their insurance) and Geiko (my insurance). State Farm had me in a rental car with my Taurus in the shop by the end of the day.
Whether or not you want to claim depends on the amount of damage. it will probably be hard to settle who's "fault" it is with the insurance company, since you don't have a report. if it only costs say 600-1000 dollars you may want to just settle something in private with the other party. if it IS more than that, you may want to make a claim. just keep in mind that after making a claim, your premium will usually go up. so you may end up paying more in the long run. My family is in the insurance business so we hear a lot about parking lot accidents. and they are the worst because the popo can't do anything about it :/
