Home repair style expanding foam. It dries stiff, sticks to metal and is closed cell so it should help with noise. And is easy to spray into tight areas without dissassembling everything.

I know this could be messy, but inside certain panels it shouldn't matter, right? Anyone want to offer up there beater for an experiment?

If this works I may come out with a rebranded foam for car sound insulation... ;)

Several people have used spray expanding foam in car panels, however if you use too much, or the wrong kind, the expansion will distort the panel. I want to fill my deck lid with foam, but don’t want to have end up buying a new lid because I screwed up.

I was thinking door and trunk panels. Have any links to previous attempts handy?

Well on the doors, you could add both a layer of deadening, then a layer of Ensolite (sound proof foam).

...yes, I agree, you would need to keep an open path for the window or just have them perm. up.
