Sorry, I'm a slacker... worked 12+ again today. Tuned a WRX with a VF22 and STi Ecutek #21... spent

The 26th is the 3 "others" Vette, S2K, and Blown Civic

and the 3 of you, Milo, Rexrocker (call me about the site if you get the chance), and Chris.

I'm thinking about another one in early March and then there is my day on March 31st.

I'm starting to think that the 31st might be more fun (my P's are coming into town and have never seen anything like this) to do more of an open track day...

Milo, can we sticky a "Next SRDIC" thread and see what we can arrange for early March (weekday likely) or the 31st.

    Thanks again everybody,
    Siegel

    do we get timed?

  16. rexrocker

    rexrocker Active Member

We didn't get timed at my first SRDIC. For me, it was more important to learn the car and the track. If I'm not running when you are, I will certainly run a stopwatch on you. :)

BTW, Milo...I don't think you'll be able to run on Saturday. They have a scoop height law at Little Tally. :D

^^^ HAHAHAHA. That thing really is huge. I want to get a real intake temp probe and see how it does.

Technically there is NO timing at these events because insurance-wise timing takes it from a driver instruction event to practice racing. Then again the SCCA events still bill under driver-ed.

First let me assure you that there will be WAY more than enough to think about before being concerned about your times.

There are techniques to knowing how well you exited each corner. When you begin to feel that you might be getting a corner right we will cover how to know how well you got out of it.

I'll check on the insurance ramifications, but if there is a way to give you times we will. At the very least, pulling times from the video should be fine.

Should be a blast. As always, if you have any questions let me know.

    Thanks again guys,

just got back home... and i have only 1 thing to say... AWESOME... the school was very informative... everyone was very helpful and we all got a lot of track time... wish i hadn't spent my brake pads so i could get some time on the track... but i strongly recommend this school to everyone

I totally agree with Milo. I put 100 milles on the track. Only suggestion I have is to anyone that is going to do this in the future, if you have a second set of wheels use your worse set. I cooked my front wheels and did a good job on the rears. It is easier on the pocket to replace a set of $70 per tire stockers, than a set of $200 per tire street tires. It was alot of wear and tear on the tires and the breaks, but it was well worth it.

    they were both slower.
the corvette was scared to push it.
the s2000 didn' have faster corner speed or straight away.

Thanks eveyrone for having Maria and I. We had a blast meeting you guys. Also, it was a pleasure to let Scott drive our car on the track and let us ride bitc# to see what our car is capable of doing. Being my car is stock down to the air filter, I was very impressed on how the car handled. Even the guy that owned the Corvette that got a ride in my car now wants an STI for a daily driver.lol It was cool meeting you all, and maybe I'll be able to show up for one Thursday night meet before I leave. Thanks again! Okay enough of the kiss a$$ing!ha

Bobby, The vent was great, however with the front windows down and a helmet on it was kinda hard to tell if it did anything. I am sure that if I had the windows up and the vent open I still would have had a cool head.

John, Shane, and Maria, It was nice meeting you all. Glad you got to go for a ride on the track.

John, just wait till you get some engine management. Your car with Scott driving was keeping up with me very well. Every corner, Scott got on my ass. Soon as the straights came I would pull away. Once Clay was done with his cooldown laps and it was just Scott and I on the track I was keeping my distance until the U-Turn. I thought the U-Turn was one of my better double apexs, but I guess I was still a bit off on my line and slowing down a bit too much.

Anyways, it was a great adventure, not sure where everybody stopped at the end of the night. I though we were going to BP for gas. The second I got on the road my fuel light came on so I don't think I could have gone much further.

Scott, you are a great instructor, I learned so much about car control and picking lines, weight transfer and just steering with the gas. Can't wait for the next event, but I definitely need to do some work before. It was alot of wear on my tires and breaks. I think by the end of the next event my tires will be completely dead, unless I switch to my stockers, but then although you were completely underpowered against me, you would probably destroy me. Traction and the extreme power difference were the only things keeping me ahead of you. If I was running on my stock tires I have no doubt you would have passed me by the end of the first double apex.
