    Helix downpipe (catless): $199
    Gutted uppipe: $0
    STi catback: ~$75
    OpenPort cable: ~$90
    Gaskets+shipping: $cheap

Much faster car for under $400? Priceless.

    Then maybe stage 2 for < $350. :)

Throw in modded stock injectors ($free), ebay intercooler (< $200) and a good deal on a VF39 ($250?), LC-1 wideband ($200), and you have the potential for, what, 280-290whp for under a grand.

(Might want to spend another $100 or so on a fuel pump to play it safe now that I think about it...)

modded would be too much for the 39 wouldn't they? I hear they flow like 750...now pinks or the new 06 injectors would be perfect!

do you have to get a tune? or do you just do that with openport or whatever?

ya, he is talking about modding the ECU with open port. It has the ability to reflash the ECU.

As long as the car can idle fine the injectors aren't too big. Granted you'd probably only see like 60% IDC max, but who cares?

Pinks would be good too, but costlier... I think the '06 injectors are side feed so they wouldn't function well.

are they side feed? i was under the impression they were tops.

other than that, for stage 3 i spent a total of 960 bucks.

    Could you break that down?

SS had posted saying that 06 WRX injectors are top feed

Ok just to clarify...STI are side feed or top feed?

USDM STi injectors are side feed

Ok so I was correct in my assumption that the new WRX injectors for the 06 that flow 560 can be used on WRX. These would be a good lower cost alternative to the JDM pinks...hell they might even be hitting the market soon as people put bigger turbos on the 06 wrx and go to 800's, etc.

    250 for catback, 150 for catted dp, 80 for up 600 for AP 300 protune 100 ic houses - 1480 - 600( subaru bucks) = 780 =)

but for 1480 stg 3 isnt that bad. car feels damn great.

Looks like you're right. What do they go for new?

Ah, I was wondering what you meant by 'stage 3'. Damn tuners can't stick to a common nomenclature. :)

I guess my 'stage 3' would probably be 'stage 4' in those terms, with bigger IC, injectors and aftermarket turbo. Now we just need somebody to try and pull it off for $1k and see if it's doable. :D

edit: That is if you either have a free Scott (blackmail? unlimited burritos?) or DIY the tune.

We've got the '06 WRX Top Feed's (they're near 600cc's) for right near $100 each, maybe even just under (have to check with Lisa).

would be a great budget set of injectors! I think last I heard you guys had them for $360 for the set or something...again not 100% on that but what I heard. For my goals I am going to have to go a bit higher with the 18g or super 16. I think the recommendation is a minimum of 700 cc for the super 16 and probably a bit more for the 18g. I found that deadblt has a budget series of td05's for fairly reasonable!!

FWIW, pinks are $375 shipped from gruppe-s. Hopefully the '06 WRX ones will come down in price. :)

So you prefer that 3rd cat in there?

Everybody should have a cat; no reason to shit on mother nature more than necessary, and a single cat won't rob much hp. :)

Yes i had an option - PERRIN DP (no CAT) still in garage
I opted for Stromung Coated Shorty DP for the flexibility and while i was patiently waiting i also got a Stromung Catted MP slightly used and it matted perfectly with STi Catback.

Crucial PPC manifold (w/ stock heatshield)- STi UP - Stock TD04 - Stromung Coated DWG DP - Stromung HiFLow Cat - STi Catback

Reason: both Audio and environment friendly

Bah these cars still probably put out half that of a big v-8 super SUV gas guzzler. Only reason I have not taken my cat off is not sure how loud it will be and the various classes in autocross, lol.
