This happened to me the first time about 2 months ago. After I drove home from work I stopped at a gas station to pick a few things up. Go back out to my car and go to start it. It fires and immediately cut off. So I go to crank it over and it will turn over a few times and hit once and not fully fire. So I crank of it a few more times and finally my cel pops up and when the light came on all my relays in my engine compartment box started clicking and wigging out, my radiator fan kept kicking on and off. So I get a scanner from my friend and I have about 8 or 9 codes. I don't recall what they all were but here are just a few, VSS, IACV, Missfire on all 4 cylinders, Camshaft position sensor ( I would have this pop up from time to time need to replace both of them but haven't had the time) and a few other really odd CEL's. So it was too late to do anything so I let it sit there. Just so happened to pass the same gas station when I was on my way home about 3 hours later and stopped to see if it would start. Well it started up but was running horrible, black smoke dumped out and made almost no power at all. I limped it home and went to work on it the next morning. Car ran 100% fine just like it use to before that happened. I just let it go and now just recently it started happening more and more often. Usually about three times a week all random times (car hot or cold doesn't matter, and only happens when trying to start it). Well to fix my problem I can disconnect the battery and let it sit for an hour or so and it will start right up. Mods: Exhaust, VF39, Supporting Mods, and UTEC Im almost 100% certain its ECU related. I tired to find a diagram at work to see if all the CEL's that I get are related IE using the same grounds. It has stumped me and I would really like to fix this problem before I sell the car, because Im not that kind of person that will sell a gettoh ass car that will start when ever the hell it wants. Plus its really had to diagnose since it happens random and usually Im not at my house where I could work on it. When this happened I searched around on NASIOC to see if people were getting the same codes, and there were around 10 posts of people with the same cel's and problem but responded back with never mind car now runs fine.
