Hey guys i installed my coilovers this weekend and torm my cv boot!!!:wtc:
I was looking around under there to see what else might been torn up and i found a torn steering rack boot and the other appears to be leaking. Im putting new axles in to save the headache of the boots. Should i be looking for a new rack as well or will the boots suffice?? And where in the hell do you get a new rack!!lol

if you replace the steering rack boot you will need to get an alignmnent done afterwards. and replacing the boots wil be way less money than replacing everything

I have a rack in my attic... I'd say it's just a boot, but if it's leaking you need more than boots... can you drive it to my house so I can see what's going on? I'm in Kennesaw/Woodstock area.

Edit: Boots keep dirt off, not keep leaks from leaking... If you're leaking a boot isn't your problem.

And we can swap racks without messing up your alignment.... just gotta assume your alignment isn't whack beforehand and take measurements before/after to get it right.

is it the cv/doj boot leaking or the steering rack boot leaking or both? if its leaking power steering fluid through the steering rack boot then mmtasty is rite, you have other issues

ya its leaking slow but sure! I just replaced the power steering pump about 7k ago. I havent noticed any issues except the fluid being low. just wanna make sure the car stays up to par!!! I will drive anywhere!! I live in hiram dalls area.I do need an alignment though but figured id hold off till i get the axles and this issue installed. I have duct tape on the cv boots till i get the time to install!!! lol Im so ghetto!!!

I think its just the rack boots. Thats where the concentration of fluid is

rack boots won't leak unless the rack is leaking into the boots. the boots should be dry inside of them... We can swap in my extra rack and it'll be a less than good ratio, or you can get an '04 STi rack or stock WRX rack. It's a PITA, but not too bad.
