I would like to know what I need for a sti brake swap on a 2010 wrx. I also need to know if the wrx and sti rotors are the same size. I recently purchased dba4000 rotors but have not installed them. Any advice would be appreciated.
I haven't looked into what changed on the GR, but I don't see how this is much different than the standard swaps we've all been doing since late 2003. You'll be needing the rear brake adapter from KNS Brakes. FWIW, I'm not the expert on this sort of thing, but I am sure that someone more knowledgeable will chime.
I would contact Ken at wrxbrakes.com. He can tell you for sure (or do some searching on Nasioc. Like Alex mentioned for the previous generation the fronts were bolt on and the rears needed and adaptor. Also you need the 5X100 rotors front and rear in the correct size. Previous generation fronts were no problem as the 2004 STI used them. However rears were a problem as the parking brake shoe ID was different. A couple of places online sold those (wrxbrakes being one). All of that is previous generation and am not sure about current.
I thought you could swap out the fronts with 04 STI rotors and any year caliper? The rears will need an adaptor rotor and bracket. Like the above, contact Ken...he will know what you need and he sells the rear kits as well.
you can dual drill the sti rotors. but for the time and financial investment, it'd be easier to jsut get a BBK. or you can source 04 sti parts which will work without a problem, but the brake bias will be thrown off. http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/index.php?topic=12449.0
I vote for Stoptech BBK. I had 328x28 kit on my previous '04 WRX with stock rear brake. IMO, this set up feels just as good or even better than current STI's brembo brakes.
Exactly what Integroid said... Ken has a great kit that includes the brackets and the DBA rotors for the parking brake to work if you are not fully swapping a STI rear into it.
