So I'm considering getting an STi hood scoop with an air splitter to complement it. My main question is, other than aesthetics, will this actually give me any performance gains?

I'm running the stock Intercooler, and I'm protuned stage 2+ by Scott Siegel. I know that the splitter will get more air to flow properly into the intercooler, but I'm wondering if this is anything I'm actually going to be able to notice? Or is this just something thats going to look cool with a bigger scoop, and give me a noticeable butt dyno increase because I feel like my car looks meaner/faster?

    Thanks in advance

nothing noticeable except for it flaps more at speed

It will definitely drop the temp. of the IC a few degrees. I would definitely consider doing the sprayer as well. Overall, the car should feel more like it does when you first start it and the IC is still cool. I know over time, the IC heats up and the car starts to feel sluggish. While the IC is cooler, you should be able to reach higher boost levels and have bigger gains. As far as how much gain, probably not much more than 10hp depending on the actual temperature drop. The sprayer can make that gain even better and last longer, since air to water is a better heat transfer than air to air.

^^not noticing it may be due to stage tune. The better the tune, the more you should notice it. Some people can notice a few hp, some can't, but it should definitely keep the performance longer as you are driving.

Well the stock hoodscoop is useless above 90mph so if you plan on going above those speeds then yes it will be a performance enhancement.

I dont think you'll notice any butt dyno increase, I know I didnt, but it should keep the intercooler colder before it begins to heat soak.
