Sticky Accelerator?

I was driving off-road today and my car got stuck in the mud. (Pictures to follow in another thread when I get them). But, driving home I noticed my accelerator pedal sticking. I'd push it down, turbo would boost and when i let go boost would die off but only to about 0psi/-.02MPa and then hold. Slowly it would start to work its way down if I let it alone. Also, it would maintain speed or accelerate (no cruise was not set). I could take my foot behind the pedal and pull it out and it would behave like it should until I pressed down again. Any suggestions on how to go about cleaning it out and fixing it? I checked in the cabin and no mud seemed stuck in there and the throttle in the engine was in good clean order so I think it may be mud in between? Does this sound like an accurate assessment? Tips on how to clean it out? Thanks guys!

hmm, seems like a sticky situation

man that was pretty bad, i think maybe there might be some mud stick where the throttle cable enters the firewall.

heck yea for off roading the wrx! i pass this small trail everyday on the way to school that i am tempted to go down, but never have the balls to do it. ive been down it several times in my truck and its nothing serious, not even ruts just sloppy mud, no standing water.

The diagnosis from SoG: While off road we bumped loose one of the mounting brackets for the steering column, causing it to shift slightly and stick the accelerator. Problem has been subsequently fixed, along with balancing and an oil change =)
