hey guys my parents are completely cool with trading in the prelude for a WRX the only problem is...me and my dad have put s much money into that prelude and we wont get near as much as we put in it. its got a brand new paint job for a little over a grand, dc sports header, aem cold air, tanabe strut bars front and rear, new window moldings, polk momo speakers all around, civic type r shift boot with spoon sports knob, lowered an inch and half on teins, greddy evo2 exhaust, and an 8000k hid kit. the cruise control doesnt work and doesnt have washer fluid (had to take out to fit HID ballasts). everything else is perfect. i have done all that to it and the trade in value of it is 7500. my dad hates that im only getting that much for it. so i need to figure out a way to work this out. and hows the insurance on a WRX for a 18 year old? any suggestions would be awesome. thanks a lot.
If you have the stock parts, and want to deal with it you can roll your car back to stock and sell the mods. Have you tried to sell your car outright first rather than trade it? Good luck with your search!
I say part it out and trade it in. It should be less than a prelude. I got my car when I was 19 and the insurance wasn't that much.
sell it to a private party. DUH! that is the only way to get more money for any vehicle. i don't know why people trade them in to begin with. i sold my accord on EBAY. got just about what i wanted for it and it was gone in a week. DONE! my insurance (full coverage) is less on my WRX than it was (liability only) on my accord. your insurance should go down when you turn 21 as well..
Return the car to stock. Everybody who has a Lude would love to have those parts. As for insurance, lol, I had a 96 2dr Accord. My insurance is less on my 02 WRX.
Sell it I took my girls car up to Buford Highway at Jimmie Carter to a few of the car dealerships around there and one of them took it off my hands cash. It would be better then trade in. If your going to sell it outright, craigslist is where its at.
Trust me i know whats its like to owe or have more then your cars worth. I owe 20k on my wrx and its only worth like 13.5 i think. and it imposable to sell an 03 wrx for 20k no matter how much is done to it.
i`m 19, and my wrx runs me $200 a month on insurance. For some reason the rex is cheap on insurance (must be safety things like AWD, side-airbags, 5-star crash rating, and the fact that not many teenagers drive it, compared to say, a civic or an rsx).
It may be worth it to try autotrader.com first. My last car was an '02 SpecV, and it sold for my asking price in 2 weeks. I had alot of NISMO stuff on it that I didn't feel like parting out. If you're lucky, you'll find someone who wants that exact car and wants to save on mods they were planning on anyway. If not, part out all the mods and sell the car stock on autotrader.
my insurance was gonna be like 8000 a year so I got my GF's dad to co-sign and instead get it for 800 a year. I had 2 minor speeding tickets and a fender bender and an expired tag within 3 years... and failure to observe a traffic signal or whatever that is. So things can be bad if you've been retarded a little bit. Oh and maybe another minor speeding ticket and a couple license suspensions.
yea a prelude was gonna run me about 300 but my wrx now is under $200. I have a clean record too. It has something to do with because Preludes are looked at as sport cars for teens.
My insurance was about 1300 every six months but when I turned 21 it dropped to 700 every six months (full coverage)
