Stock Boost Guage

Has anyone out their installed the stock boost guage mounted on the stearing collumn. If so is it worth the 150 bucks to have it installed ???? Or is it plug and play ???

 

Its plug and play for the most part. But you do need to drill for the gauge mount. You also need to remove the 6-disc changer where the connector plugs in. And you have to tee into the BOV vacuum line and run it through the firewall. Thats about it.

+1 on "plug and play" ... no problems installing the stock cup with aftermarket Omori gauge on my '03 WRX.

the one thing i hear is getting the cup on is a pain...

 

The hardest part was fitting the gauge into the cup. Otherwise, everything went smoothly. If you're buying the OEM kit, it comes with a template for the 2 holes that you have to drill/dremel into the plastic steering column cover. Tie into the radio harness for power and slide the gauge into the cup. The gauge is a tight squeeze. Use some vaseline. If you have problems, post up.

 

I find the OEM boost gauge to be inaccrate and hard to read since it is in large scaled metric unit

 

True. +1 for the Omori. It was accurate according to the EcuTek data monitor in the car.

 

Anyone know the best way to turn the factory gauge inside the cup? Mine's a little crooked and it drives me crazy?
