Looking for a little opinion here...of course...asking for that on the internet is a risky proposition but we'll run at it anyway. So as most of you know, I have changed a little bit on my car. Up until this point, I have kept everything but the wheels (got seriously paid for them so I figured I would still do ok if I had to find a set for some reason) just in case I ever had to return the car to stock. The theory here is if I ever sell the car, it is wrecked (knock on wood) or some other off the wall instance...I could put the stock parts back on the car and keep the aftermarket. As we all know, aftermarket parts are worth more on their own than on the car and stock parts are the opposite. Often times, stock cars are more sought after than tuned. The dilemma...I have gotten inquires for my stock parts and I have changed so much at this point that it would be a massive undertaking to put the car back to stock again. So what would you do...sell off the parts and free up storage space or keep them just in case s%$t happens?
That is a tough call. I thought I was at the point of no return when I put a 2.5 and 6 speed in my bug eye but I ended up going back to stock which was extremely painful sourcing all of the stock bits I got rid of. Tough choice but it comes down to do you need money and free space? If not put them in a box and save for a rainy day when you do need to sell of either spend a few hours going back stock.
Keep stock parts.... the little bit of money you may get for them isn't worth the hassle if you end up needing them.
Sell them...that way when you break a ringland tomorrow you can afford this sick Track 1 engine I build specifically for the DOM 1.5
Sell the stock parts. I still have stock crap I found in my shed yesterday.....they are headed to the dumpster tonight.
I guess what is the chance you will ever spend the time to go back to stock? I got a bunch of stock stuff with my 03 WRX that I stored and moved several times... in the end I sold some of it and trashed the rest of it b/c I decided I would never invest in going back to stock. A 2011 WRX may be a different story though. Though I did keep the stock TD04. I keep that in my office!
